The Boston Blazers played a great game against the Buffalo Bandits.
It was the first Lacrosse game I had ever seen live. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I noticed the game play of the NLL is very similar to hockey. The players were physical throughout the entire game, even towards the end. Each team was filled with young players ready to get at each others throat.
The game started off slow in the first period with only a 2-1 score. Then Boston battled back in the second period but the team was still down going into the third. The Blazers led by Dan Dawson were on fire the entire game. It seemed like every goal he netted an assist on. He is a very skilled player and I enjoyed watching him.
Brenden Thenhaus had a multi goal game and played with a fiery passion. He is a player I would love to watch again. The Blazers are a team that could be a menace in the playoffs. They need to win the next five games to earn a spot. Coach Tom Ryan is leading a team of young players on a good path. He said that his team needed to execute their game plan better, in the post game press conference.
Boston fought hard all game and tied the game to force an 8-8 tie, with only a few seconds to spare. They had a 7-4 lead midway through the fourth period but lost it. The team needs to just pull together and close out games. The Blazers ended up losing in overtime but it was a well played game. I wish the Blazers a very good rest of the season. If they make the playoffs, then any NLL contender needs to be aware.
The fire of Boston is coming for you. Beware of the Blazers.
The Blazers Beat is a student reporter program which provides high school students access to the Garden on game nights. Students will receive a media credential for a game of their choice, access to the post-game player and coach press conference and can write a game recap which the Blazers will help to publish with their local papers.
