12/09 Sparks Holiday Wish List

A few things come to mind during the Holiday Season - good food, good friends, and holiday parties! We celebrated our second annual Sparks Holiday Party last week and between the ugly sweaters and "All I want for Christmas" karaoke renditions, it was nice to spend some time with each other and celebrate the fun and festive holiday season.

And what's a holiday party without a good ole' fashioned gift swap??!! As dancers, there are a lot of items that we need to stock pile for the upcoming season, so swapping with your fellow dancers is always a fun event and we get to see how creative the girls can be. A few items on our holiday wish lists are:

Starbucks or Dunkies gift cards:
Coffee and sugar - two very important ingredients for late night dance practices. During crunch time, we need all the energy we can get to bust out some fun and creative routines for the Blazer fans!

Anything from Sephora!:
From make up to hair products, you name it, we want it! Gotta look gorgeous :o)

i-Tunes gift cards:
The one thing that gets us pumped up for the games is blasting our favorite tunes in the locker room. How else would we create all that adrenaline to prep for game time?! Plus, its a great stress reliever to get a little silly "dancing it out" with the girls before game time.

Photo Album:
There are so many fun and memorable moments that happen during the season (um, the electic slide with Whoopi and Jack ring any bells??) that having an album filled with the best moments is always a keeper.

Snuggie:
es, that's right, a snuggie! Nothing says comfort like wrapping yourself up after a crazy night at a Blazer game! oooo maybe the hot new leopard print one...

So those are just a few, and having the holidays here only means that we are closer to Opening Night! Fire Up Blazer fans, we have a great season ahead of us!! Happy Holidays and see you in a few weeks!

10/09 The Making of the Sparks Team 2010

The anticipation of an upcoming season is an exciting time for the Sparks, getting to know the new team, learning new material, and brainstorming new ideas. Our team selection this year was challenging due to the high caliber and skill sets of applicants but spoke to the early success of the Blazers return to the NLL. The 2010 Sparks team is an amazing group of talented and dedicated dancers including both returning veterans and rookies. We are all locally based and will spend countless hours together over the coming months at rehearsals, promos, charity events, photo shoots, Sparkler camps, fitness programs, and other fun activities. One of our first events for 2010 was the Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids Foundation’s anniversary party where the Sparks dance team joined the Boston Cannons dance team to volunteer and help raise funds for this wonderful cause.

Team building is a high priority for us and the inception of initiatives such as the big sister/little sister program is designed to facilitate personal relationships among the team. The success of a dance team, not unlike other team sports, focuses not on the individual efforts of one member but how the team works together as a whole. Pre-season also gives us the chance to have some good old-fashioned girl bonding time doing something we all love to do - dance and supporting our team and fans. We are so fortunate to have a great management team that supports our efforts and an amazing fan base that motivates us to work hard each week. I’m honored to represent the Sparks again and we hope to see you at upcoming promos and games, FIRE UP!
