Boston Continues to Build Offense with Signing of Veteran Dan Teat

Teat Signs with Blazers

The Boston Blazers announced today the one-year signing of forward Dan Teat from the Philadelphia Wings along with the signings of offensive players Jamie Rooney, Brett Queener, and Sean Morris.

Teat comes to Boston with a history of success most notably with the Edmonton Rush in 2009 where he led the team in goals (28) and assists (41). A fifteen-year veteran from Brampton, Ontario, Teat has accumulated 670 career points (316 goals, 354 assists) and 830 loose balls in 211 games played. Teat started his career with the Rochester Knighthawks (1997-99), before going to Albany (2001-03), San Jose (2004), Buffalo (2004-2008), Edmonton (2009), and Philadelphia (2010) where he was traded for Derek Malawsky.

“We are excited to have Dan in a Blazers uniform this season,” said Doug Reffue, Blazers President and General Manager. “We look forward to adding his experience and leadership on and off the floor as we make a run for the Champion’s Cup.”

In addition to Teat, Boston also firmed up negotiations with Rooney in a three-year contract and Queener and Morris in one-year deals. Rooney, a native of Arthur, Ontario came to the Blazers last season at the trade deadline from Knighthawks in exchange for the Blazers 2010 first round entry draft pick. Rooney completed the year with 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists).

Named Inside Lacrosse’s “Personality of the Year”, Queener, a transition player from Albany, NY has made an impact both on and off the turf for Boston since earning a spot on the team’s inaugural squad. A graduate of the University of Albany, Queener also plays goaltender for the Toronto Nationals of Major League Lacrosse.

Morris, a native of Marshfield, MA and graduate of UMASS has been a fan favorite for Boston. The back-to-back Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year and 2005 New England Player of the Year, Morris has 44 career points (14 goals, 30 assists) since joining the league in 2008.
