Dawson Named NLL Overall Player & Offensive Player of the Week

Cosmo, Hotaling Also Recognized for Stellar Play Over Edmonton

Boston, MA (March 23) -Boston Blazers Captain Dan Dawson was named the National Lacrosse League’s Overall Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week for Week #11(3/15-3/21/10) of the 2010 NLL Season. The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league’s eleven member clubs.

Dawson recorded a season high five goals and two assists in the Blazers 12-5 road victory over the Edmonton Rush on Saturday, March 20th. Dawson currently leads Boston with 55 points (22 goals and 33 assists).

Goaltender Anthony Cosmo and transition player Ryan Hotaling were also honored as Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week respectively. Cosmo shut down the Edmonton offensive allowing only two goals in the first half and made 35 saves on 40 shots faced. Cosmo ranks first among NLL goalies with a .807 save percentage and 380 saves on 471 shots.

Hotaling scooped six loose balls and won 13 out of 22 faceoffs in the win. Currently, Hotaling is third in the NLL with 110 of 185 faceoff wins.

With the victory over Edmonton, Boston improves to 6-5 and moves into a tie for second with the Toronto Rock in the Eastern Division. The Blazers battle the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, March 27 at 7:00 pm at the Wachovia Center and return home to Boston next Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 pm at the TD Garden against the Orlando Titans.
