Reffue Named Blazers GM

Boston, MA–The Boston Blazers announced today that President Doug Reffue will assume the role of General Manager. Blazers Head Coach Tom Ryan will step down as the team’s current GM to devote his full attention to his coaching responsibilities.

“Tom has done an outstanding job in assembling the perfect team to compete for a Champions Cup. Our 10-6 record in our expansion year is a testament to Tom’s ability to recognize, acquire, and unify top lacrosse talent” said Reffue. “We feel that the time is right for Tom to focus his energies on coaching as we enter our second season. Tom will retain a very strong voice in our personnel decisions as we move forward.”

Ryan contends, “After a season of fulfilling both the Head Coaching and General Manager duties I have decided to step down as GM and devote my attention to coaching. I will continue to work closely with Doug to identify and acquire the best talent available, but I feel it is in the best interest of the Blazers for me to focus on the team."

The Blazers exceeded expectations in their inaugural season and finished tied for 1st in the Eastern Division with a 10-6 record. The team fielded three All-Stars including the NLL MVP, Dan Dawson, goalie Anthony Cosmo, and defender Mitch Belisle. Their 2010 season kicks off on Saturday, January 9th against the Toronto Rock at 7:30 pm at the TD Garden. Tickets start at $9 per game.
