They say time flies when you’re having fun….and that couldn’t be any truer than with this Blazers Season. At auditions back in September, it seemed as though the season opener was far, far away. And now we only have three games left, and only one home game!! Where has the time gone! So in spirit of how much fun we have had this season, I have put together a Top Ten list of Sparks happenings this year, to give everyone a peek into our backstage antics!
10. Kelly and my countdown to the 2 minute mark of each quarter...it results in some random jump/jig/erratic hand motions. Not sure why 2 minutes left is so exciting, but it apparently is!
9. Before any game, you can find us warming up backstage running through each dance….with velcro and hot rollers in our hair. All in the name of beauty!
8. Whenever anyone forgets anything in the locker room after the game, Jenny holds the items for ransom – only giving them back for a bag of Skittles...
7. Energy shots after the game before we go to the afterparty. Like we need more energy??? (they do work!)
6. Laura teasing her hair about 8 inches straight up at the top of her hair! And yet somehow she manages to tame it down and make it look gorgeous!!!
5. Gina’s “press conference” backstage for the security guards. During any break you can usually find her in the press conference room, up on stage at the microphone (turned on), telling the security guards all about her favorite cheese or other really important facts about herself! Last year her favorite cheese was mozzarella – but that has changed this year to aged cheddar.
4. The dance parties we have in the locker room during half time! There’s nothing better than 18 dancers with an ipod and speakers….these girls can DANCE!!
3. Call any one of us Rachel…I dare you! It will result in 18 girls dying laughing…It all started at one Blazers promotion where I went up to a girl I thought I worked with, and insisted it was her. I went up to her and said she had no clue who I was. Awkward.
2. A umm, ahem, wardrobe malfunction….on the field. While we don’t think anyone in the crowd noticed, it did provide a little comedy to the locker room when we got back!
1. Jade doing some silly dance backstage to “warm up” before we go out to perform…..and falls flat on her face after tripping over a huge metal stage! I never knew such a small girl could make such a loud bang! Unfortunately the security guards (who were watching at the time!) didn’t capture it on the security video. That would have definitely been up on You Tube - quickly!
I am truly blessed and honored to know every single one of the girls on the team. They are all so beautiful, talented, and funny and I am so happy to call myself a Spark alongside of them! Go Blazers!

Being a member of the 2009-2010 Sparks Dance Team has been nothing less than amazing so far. We are now making way towards game six and I safely say that there has yet to be a dull moment on or off the field! It's an absolute whirlwind and an absolute privilege to be out there with 17 other amazing dancers supporting such a talented group of guys.
With it being my rookie season, everything and anything Blazers is thrilling and new. I will never forget the feeling i had during game one. As the lights turned down and we were in place on field (more or less getting pegged in the head with little red glowsticks), the crowd roared in anticipation awaiting the players entrance. It was then I thought to myself " It doesn't get much better than this". I live to perform, and to be doing so in a place where thousands of fans have come to root on their favorite team be it Blazers, Bruins, or Celtics is pretty cool. Speaking of fans, we have some awesome people out there dedicated to supporting the Blazers organization. People from our Captain Lorin's family who come fully equipped with wacky signs to our own resident Spiderman really make all the hard work and dedication worthwhile.
Our coach, and my "big sis", Jenny along with our captains and veterans have genuinely made a home for us rookies on the team and have guided us along to be nothing but the best! New and challenging choreography is thrown at us every week and it takes just a short while for us to pick it up and perform it with our own individual flair. Every girl is unique and together we have created the alluring personality of the Sparks Dance Team. I will never forget our experiences so far and look forward to the rest of our season! GO BLAZERS!

And we're off! The season has begun and I have to say, the Sparks are looking amazing!! Opening night was filled with so much energy and the adrenaline was getting the girls revved up to put on some fabulous performances. As a Veteran, it was fun seeing the Rookies go onto the field for the first time, wide eyed and pumped to perform! That first run around the field gives you such a rush of excitement, I knew our Rookies were feeling right at home after that!
We debuted three new uniforms on opening night and have received great feedback from the wonderful Blazer fans. This only made us work harder and come up with some creative and eye catching performances! We also had our first Sparkler Camp of the season and it proved to be a great success! The Sparklers did a wonderful (and very professional!) job on the field and I could tell that all of them had a great time hanging out with the Sparks for the day. It's great that we are able to have the camps so that our youngest fans get to have some one-on-one time with us. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one!
So hold onto your hats Blazer fans! The Blazers black uniforms are proving to be a success! Let's keep the momentum going for the rest of the season!

Let the countdown begin! We are days away from our first game and as a rookie I am beyond excited for opening night. I have no idea what to expect so the suspense is killing me! Our costumes are ready, promos are happening, we’ve got our maps of the garden, game-day schedules and other necessary info to prep us and our routines are looking FANTASTIC.
Practices have proven to be extremely productive and super fun, mainly because our director Jenny is awesome and we have two great captains in Lorin and Karen. All three are so supportive and helpful and really put in so much time and effort to make things run so smoothly. The veterans too have been great at helping us rookies learn all the sideline material and routines and give us helpful hints on what to expect.
What I love the most so far about being a part of the Sparks is the camaraderie amongst the teammates. Practices and promos have been so exciting and rewarding because each and every girl is such a team player and works so well together. I am pumped to get to every practice and can’t even imagine how much our synergy will grow once games are underway. January 9 at 7:30 pm can’t come soon enough…See you at the Garden!!!

It’s almost that time of year again! Not only am I looking forward to celebrating the holidays but I can’t wait for the Sparks to be back in the Garden! Last year was pretty scary with everything being so new, but this time around, as a Veteran, I’m even more excited and ready for another successful season. The Sparks have been working extremely hard for the last few months learning a ton of new routines and now even some sidelines! Yes Blazers fans, ask and you shall receive … more chances to see the Sparks dance! I think we will really entertain the crowd, not only with our amazing choreography but with our HOTT new outfits too! The girls on the team this year are AMAZING dancers and performers. I always come to practice hyped up on energy drinks so the girls are great sports about always laughing at my crazy antics and jokes… which I love!
The Sparks have been busy so far with our photo shoot, which is always fun, and now we’re starting to hit the streets for some Blazers promotions; and we don’t slow down when the season starts. We only have about a month left of practice so it’s time to get down to business to prepare for Opening Night on January 9th. There’s much to look forward to for all the returning, and hopefully new, Sparks and Blazers fans. I know the Sparks are ready for a great season and I think it’s about time we give Boston another Championship!!!

My rookie season on the Sparks Dance Team is off to an amazing start. I heard nothing but great things about the team and knew I would love it. Having recently graduated from college, I was looking to dance here in Boston so I went into the Sparks audition hoping for the best (and for the chance to represent the Boston Blazers this year). I was very nervous with so many talented and beautiful dancers all hoping for a spot; I was thrilled when I found out that I would be a part of the team. I’ve danced my whole life and I am really excited that I can continue with such a great group of girls.
So far we have only had four practices, but we are really moving quickly and the first game will sneak up on us fast. It is always hard to be the rookie on a team, but so far all the girls have been welcoming and friendly. We have been working hard at practices, but we also have fun. We just finished our first dance, a fun hip-hop styled routine. Now we working on a brand new dance. It is so fun to do because it is so different; it is jazz styled and very technical with an exotic twist. The choreography that Jenny has done so far is awesome and I am really excited to learn more. So far the dances look great and I am very excited to be on the team and to see what the season has in store!

We’re baaaack! The second season auditions for the Sparks was overwhelming; I had the fortunate opportunity to be a part of them and watching so many talented dancers bring their A-game was amazing… lucky for Blazers fans this means we have a stellar team this year.
Only two practices behind us and team bonding is well underway. With 8 rookies joining us this year, each was matched with a veteran ‘big sister’. Hopefully we can help prepare them for all their ‘firsts’ as Sparks… first photo shoot, first promo, and of course first game! And of course be a friendly face at practice as each girl starts to find her place on the team. More so, I’m looking forward to what my ‘little sister’, Brittany can share with me. The excitement of your first season with a team is always contagious and as excited as I am for this season, watching her experience will be so rewarding.
January 9th (opening night at the Garden!) seems so far away but between our official team photo shoot, learning almost all of our dances, planning for dance clinics and the holidays through in it will be here before we know it. It’s truly an honor to be part of the Sparks… here’s to 2010 and bringing home the championship!
